  • Jamalco face Windalco in 50-overs clash

    THE 2006 Reggae Jammin Foods Business House 50-Overs cricket competition continues today with two matches starting at 11:00 a.m.

    Jamalco face Windalco in the day's feature at Port Esquivel while Digicel take on Jamaica Broilers at Kensington Park.

    In last week's action, Mel-bourne's Super Cup player Damion Jacobs scored a century to lead Cable & Wireless to victory over JUTC by 110 runs.

    Batting first, C&W scored 242. Jacobs made 126 and was supported by Ryan Francis with 50.

    Jermaine McLean took 5-60 and Clan Garwood 4-44 bowling for JUTC.

    In reply, JUTC were blown away for 132. Demetrious Francis, 58, and Kemar Anderson, 24, provided the only resistance against Ryan Blair (5-15), Yanick Elliott (2-12) and Danville Malcolm (2-24).

    At Kensington, Digicel scored their first win of the season, by 56 runs over Nestle.

    Digicel first made 205-9. Kirk Gordon, 55, and Lloyd Ratthrie, 35, got most runs against David Carr (3-25) and Dwayne Crossgill (2-20).

    At their turn at bat, Nestle could only manage 149. Junior Stewart, 47, and Carl Downer, 32, made the most runs against Noel Brown (4-35) and Gerald Laing (2-29).

  • JUTC I blank Bank of Jamaica 3-0

    LAST YEAR'S beaten finalists JUTC I blanked hosts Bank of Jamaica (BoJ) 3-0 at Nethersole Place, in a rescheduled men's business house table tennis match on Thursday.

    In matches played earlier this week, former champions Jamaica Public Service (JPS) defeated Gleaner Company 3-1 at the University of the West Indies Students' Union Hall while Wind-alco stopped Cable & Wireless 3-1 at Kirkvine Sports Club.

    In individual results, Hubert Lawrence won two matches for JPS, outplaying Wayne Lyew 3-1 and Derrick Hamilton 3-0. Patrick Beckford won JPS's third match, beating Hamilton 3-0.

    Andrew Walters earned the consolation victory for Gleaner by way of a walkover from Lincoy Small.

    At Kirkvine, George Hyman won two matches for Windalco, beating Brian Newman 3-0 and Robert Gabay 3-1. Marlon Ranger won by default for Windalco's third match.

    Gabay eased past Justin Allen 3-0 to pull one back for C&W.

    JNBS remain leaders of Group One with 12 points, ahead of Windalco (11 points), C&W (five) and JUTC II (four) while JUTC I (18 points) lead Group Two ahead of St. Ann Bauxite (10), Gleaner (eight), JPS (seven) and BoJ (seven).

    The top two teams from each group at the end of the preliminary rounds will advance to semi-finals.

  • Carib Cement, JNBSin feature encounter

    DEFENDING CHAMPIONS and league leaders Carib Cement will face Jamaica National Building Society at Barbican in tomorrow's feature game in Division One of the 2006 KSAFA business football competition.

    In other division games tomorrow, UWI are at home against JUTC and NWC will take on Sherwin Williams at Great House Boulevard, Mona.

    Meanwhile, in Division Two action slated for Wednesday it's Courts vs. NMIA/Airport Authority at Great House Boulevard, Supreme Ventures vs. Mainland International at Tony Spaulding Complex, Shipping Association vs. J. Wray & Nephew at Boys' Town and NHT vs. C&W at Bell Chung Stadium.

    Two games are also down for this Saturday in Division One, Port Authority vs. BNS at KC North Street and Gleaner vs. NCB at St. George's College.

    Results from Wednesday round of matches in Division One: Petrojam 6 Mainland International 0; Courts 5 C&W 1; COK 1 Shipping Association 0; J. Wray & Nephew 1 VMBS 1.

    NWC registered the biggest win in Division Two with a 5-1 thrashing of JNBS. In other games: UWI 2 Carib Cement 1; Sherwin Williams 0 Port Authority 0.

  • Tank-Weld Five-A-Side continues tomorrow

    THE 2006 Tank-Weld Metals Business House Five-A-Side competition will continue tomorrow with a full schedule of matches at the NWCplaying field, Mona: Hilton Kingston vs. Jamaica Flour Mills, DHL/ Fujitsu vs. Jamaica Broilers, Bank of Jamaica vs. Brandram & Henderson, Kraft Foods vs. DHDC, Sugar Company vs. Mega Mart, NWC vs. Tropicair, Royal Jamaica Yacht Club vs. Wackenhut and Agriventures Group vs. Bureau of Standards.

    Games down for Tuesday: Grace Foods vs. Versachem/ IIL; Western Sports vs. Purity, NACO Caribbean vs. Lascelles Division; Ranger Security vs. Johnson Diversey; Peak Bottling vs. Mothers Enterprise; Tyre Warehouse vs. Geon Construction;, Pizza Hut Int. vs. Health Corporation.

    Results from last Thursday's matches: Blue Cross 1 Cari-Med 0, Tropicair 0 Sugar Company 0; RBBT 1 Prestige Restaurant 0; Caymanas 6 Deryck Gibson/ Spectrum Insurance 0; Courts 5, IGL 0; BNS 2 Appliance Traders 1.

  • Three-on-three basketball league

    THE 2006 Business House 3-on-3 basketball league continues this Wednesday and Saturday.

    In the feature on Wednesday, defending champions JUTC will face C&W. Other match-ups include Hopwood vs. Bars To Go, UDC vs. Cannings, Aerotel vs. Seprod, Cool vs. Lascelles and NCB Link vs. Western Sports.

    Meanwhile, the games slated for Saturday are: Canning vs. Baking, NCB Plus vs. NHT, Digicel vs. JUTC, LOJ vs. Courts, UDC vs. C&W, Cool vs. NWC, GKRS vs. Seprod, Western Sports vs. Hopwood and Bars To Go vs. Vibes.

  • Business Housenetball action

    ACTION WILL continue this Tuesday and Thursday in the Business House Netball Association Open League (BHNA) at the Leila Robinson Courts.

    Matches slated for Tuesday: RBTT vs. Blue Cross, Elite vs. NWC A, Kraft vs. C&W B, NWC B vs. JMMB, Sugar vs. Lasco, NCB A vs. Courts, Ja Broilers vs. Port Authority and NHDC vs. GSP.

    The games scheduled for Thursday are: BOJ vs. Lasco, LOJ vs. JUTC, W&N vs. VMBS, ISSA vs. Blue Cross, NEM vs. Port Authority, GSP vs. DCS and JIO vs. NCB A.
