JAMAICA BROILERS thoroughly demolished Cable and Wireless 'B' 25-1 in a 20-minute match on Saturday at the Leila Robinson courts in the Business House Netball Association's Open League.
Matches were reduced from 30 to 20 minutes after rain stopped play for about three hours.
From the start of the game Jamaica Broilers dominated play. The team used both their height and experience to their advantage, were accurate with their passes and had a strong defence, aggressively marking their opponents.
In offence, Jamaica Broilers jumped and stretched for their balls, reaching the arc in an average of four throws.
Meanwhile Cable and Wireless 'B' had a hard time getting free which resulted in team members holding the ball at length while searching for a relief. Their problem, however, was not only passing but shooting as many tries failed to hit the net. In comparison, their opponents almost never missed.
AWESOME
Despite the insulting defeat, Cable & Wireless 'B' says they thought the game went well.
In one word, coach Dalton Hinds said it was "awesome".
"As it relates to C&W, this bunch of ladies just learned the game [but] the skill they exhibited today was good. The level of confidence was good playing against a seasoned team," Hinds explained.
Their first year in the competition, C&W 'B' lost both their opening matches but goal attack Camille Walters had high praises for her team. An outstanding player and former member of senior team member of the now A-team, she told The Gleaner "... Tt (the game) went good considering the team we were playing".
