THE EDITOR, Sir:
MANY TIMES we hear of 'bad' Jamaicans and what they are doing to our people and country. This letter is to tell of some very good Jamaicans who came to my rescue when I was involved in a car accident which totalled my car. The accident happened at Struie in Westmoreland on May 10/06. This was the second car that passed by after the accident happened. I had gotten out of the car and was struggling to get the passenger out when Mr. Phillip Hines and a Mr. James stopped to give a hand.
They got my passenger out and put her into their car and took us to a medical clinic in Darliston to get medical attention. They waited for us and then took us to Savanna-la-Mar to the hospital for X-rays and again they waited and drove us home to Resource district in south Manchester.
On our drive to Darliston, I expressed my concern about my car being scrapped by thieves and Mr Hines informed me that he had left his sister with the car and she was going to call the wrecker and have the car taken care of. When I arrived home my car was already in my driveway. I asked Mr Hines how much I owed him and his reply was 'no charge', just give me a little something for my gas.
"One great Jamaican," please 'big up' these two gentlemen and the lady for us.
I am, etc.,
