"LITTLE DAVID play on your harp, hallelujah!" goes the children chorus.
Twenty-five year-old David Tulloch is making Goliath 'slayings' in local play industry with his insightful dramas and now comedy, Prayer Partner.
This multi-talented playwright has been writing up a storm, the teacup has been shattered and literary tea is spewing into the hungry souls of
playgoers throughout Jamaica.
If there was ever a play made to be watched at a local playhouse, it is Prayer Partner. The concept is one that flips the proverbial script, so to speak, and directs the audience to a an evolving comedy of laughter.
THE PLOT
The story line sees a young intellectual Peter (Richard Dickenson) who has just completed his law degree and who was always attracted to his friend Danielle (Kasilyn Lawson), but she however is engaged to get married to Peter's best friend Giovanni (Damion Jones and David Tulloch).
After proposing to Danielle, she now finds out that Giovanni is cheating. She tries to go the way of the church by asking for a prayer partner. When the Matron calls back Peter answers the telephone, cancels the arrangement and takes it upon himself to become the prayer partner.
One sees the comic element undergoing a deeper twist with Peter cross-dressing to get closer to Danielle to get her heart.
Abe (Tony Rodney) adds comic relief and is loaded with punch lines. And there are very funny lines as Peter becomes Peter Gaye.
