Chile plans to propose free trade talks with Peru's President-elect, Alan Garcia, yesterday, Chilean Foreign Minister Alejandro Foxley said.
Garcia, who takes office on July 28, was due in Santiago yesterday for a one-day visit.
"We are going to propose some initiatives to the president-elect that give a lot of weight to this idea that Peru and Chile should present themselves (together) to the world," Foxley told reporters. "We would like to reach a free-trade agreement with Peru."
