THE INTERNATIONAL Horticultural Exposition 2006 took place in Shenyang, China, from May 26-29 and Jamaica's floral artist/ international judge, Marigold Harding, was among the 12 judges who presided over the event.

She told Lifestyle that the standard of the show was very high and the quality of the exhibits excellent. The gardens represented all the provinces in China.

"The design, construction and architecture reflected the culture of the people and were spread out over 68 hectares," Mrs. Harding said.

The following are highlights of event which will conclude at the end of July because some of the plants were not yet in bloom and it is important for judges to see them in totality. "We have made notes so we can pick up where we left off when we return," said Mrs. Harding, who now shares the experience with readers.

There were 16 International Gardens. U.S.A., Russia, Holland, Greece, France, India, Singapore, Myanmar, Japan, Kenya, Turkey, Germany, Australia, Canada, North and South Korea. These international Gardens will be maintained by the respective countries. There were three international judges. Marigold Harding - Jamaica. Doeke Faber - Holland and Shinya Wada - Japan.
