Good service at goverment agencies

THE EDITOR, Sir:
ON MONDAY I had to visit a number of government institutions to conduct business. My first stop was at the Old Harbour collectorate where the service was good and I was quickly on my way. A stop at Island Traffic Authority in Spanish Town was a breeze - the staff was helpful. Of course, I was elated thinking that government workers and services had improved.
Naturally, something had to go wrong. My next stop at the Inland Revenue Department in Twickenham Park wasn't so great. The customer service representative I had to deal with was not very helpful. She just wasn't willing to budge even when I requested to speak with someone in authority who might have been able to help. I left disheartened, dreading my next stop at the Electoral Office of Jamaica.
What a pleasant surprise. I met a courteous and pleasant young man who went out of his way to assist me. Unlike the 'robot' at the Inland Revenue Department in Spanish Town, he saw me as a customer and human being with a need. Mr. Devon Campbell, thank you. You restored my faith that great service can be had in government offices. You especially reminded me that Jamaica still has men who are true gentlemen.
I am, etc.,
