For greater discipline
published: Friday | June 30, 2006

THE EDITOR Sir:

WE REFER to the letter from D. Smith published in The Gleaner on June 6, titled 'Form a line, yes, but ...' and wish to thank the writer for showing the interest to comment on the project.

This project is being undertaken at the specific request of the public transportation sector, namely, Jamaica Urban Transit Company, National Transport Cooperative Society and the Transport Authority. Consequently, they have been fully involved in its planning and will, in fact, undertake its implementation with the support of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

The objective is to encourage, not force, commuters to form a line to take the bus. It is our hope and expectation that this project will be a success, as we all work to create a more disciplined and courteous society in the service of humanity.

I am, etc.,

LLOYD W. DISTANT (Sr.)

President-Kiwanis Foundation of Jamaica
