Boyfriend is murder suspect
published: Friday | June 30, 2006

LEWIS

THE BOYFRIEND of Candice Williams, one of the two women whose decomposing body was found in a septic pit in Taylor Land, Bull Bay, on Wednesday, is now a suspect in the rural St. Andrew double murder.

According to a release from the Constabulary Communications Network, the Elletson Road police who are investigating believe that Dwayne Lewis, 26, of Taylor Land, can provide vital clues in solving the double murder.

Residents say Mr. Lewis, who owns the property where the bodies were found, and is also the father of Ms. Williams child, has not been seen since Sunday, June 18, the day Ms. Williams and her 22-year-old friend, Phoebe Myrie, went missing.

PIT SEALED

Their bodies were discovered by a young male relative of Ms. Williams who thought it was strange that the septic pit at the back of the house was sealed.

After the lid of the pit was knocked open, the bodies were spotted and the Nine Miles police alerted. An on the scene post-mortem examination revealed the women died from multiple stab wounds.

Residents believe the murders to be a crime of passion.

Police recovered a pillow, a knitted sheet, teddy bear and an adult DVD movie case from the pit along with the scantily clad bodies after heavy-duty equipment was used to remove the top of the pit.
