TRACK AND field athletes were the only names withheld yesterday when the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) released its teams for the 20th Central American and Caribbean Games (CAC) set for Cartagena, Colombia, next month.
Mike Fennell, president of the JOA, said the non-announcement of the track and field team was due to the time the National Championships were held.
The deadline for entries was June 20. Fenell said a preliminary list had been submitted, but now had to be changed.
He said a new list from the Jamaica Amateur Athletics Association (JAAA) had been received, but "it's now up to us (JOA) to get the officials in Cartagena to accept them."
"We can understand their (JAAA) difficulties when you're getting late entries and late substitutions, but we must get those confirmations before we put those names out in the public," he said.
Fenell said an announcement should be made within 24 hours.
The games will be held over five days from July 25-29.
