Gonzales, Williams head CAC squad

COMMONWEALTH GAMES 400m bronze medallists Jermaine Gonzales and Novlene Williams head Jamaica's 44-member track & field team to the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games, scheduled for Cartagena, Columbia in late July.

Former national 110m hurdles record holder Ian Weakley, national 400m champion Ricardo Chambers, CAC Championships hammer throw bronze medallist Natalie Grant and national 400m hurdles champion Melaine Walker are also included.

Men - Evon Allen, Sanjay Ayre, Carl Barrett, Xavier Brown, Ricardo Chamber, Lerone Clarke, Aundrae Clarke, Andre Drummond, Miekael Downer, Kevon Fairweather, Jermaine Gonzales, Leford Green, Andre Gutzmore, Alex Morgon, Jason Morgan, Jason Saunders, Dorian Scott, Bryan Steele, Kenneth Sylvester, Wainard Talbert, Wilbert Walker, Ian Weakley, Ricardo Williams and Decosma Wright.

Women - Nadia Alexander, Karen Beautle, Andre Bliss, Althea Chambers, Nyoka Cole, Jenice Daley, Vonette Dixon, Natalie Grant, Jovanee Jarrett, Andrea Martin, Areita Martin, Olivia McKoy, Anneisha McLaughlin, Zara Northover, Shevon Stoddart, Melaine Walker, Rose-marie White, Clora Williams, Novlene Williams and Marcia Woollery.

NACAC TEAM

Double World Junior Champion-ships silver medallist Anneisha McLaughlin and Ricardo Chambers head a list 17 athletes for the NACAC Under-23 Championships in Santo Domingo.

The team will depart for the Championships, set to be held between July 7-9, next Wednesday and return on July 10.

McLaughlin, who won silver at the 2002 and 2004 World Juniors in Kingston and Grosetto (Italy) respectively, head the six females, while Chambers, the national 400m champion, heads the 11 males selected.

Females: Nyoka Cole, Anneisha McLaughlin, Zara Northover, Rose-marie Whyte, Clora Williams and Nikiesha Wilson.

Males: Tywayne Buchanon, Ricardo Chambers, Andre Drummond, Leford Green, Kawyane Fisher, Isa Phillips, Raymond Richards, Wainard Talbert, Huntley Thomas, Jessie Saunders and Bryan Steele.

Managers - Dr. Winston Davidson (manager); Marion Russell (assistant manager).

Coaches - Jerry Holness (head coach), Oliver Heywood and Michael Dyke.
