published: Sunday | July 2, 2006

Hypocrisy & foreign policy
FORMER SOCIALIST ideologue Arnold Bertram seems to have swung away from any notion of morality or idealism in international relations and is now riding the utilitarian pendulum, according to his column in last week's Sunday Gleaner.

Foreign policy and development

BRUCE GOLDING and Karl Samuda do not want Jamaica to do anything to anger the United States. They did not want Jamaica to give refuge to Bertrand Aristide and do not want Jamaica to support Venezuela's bid for a two-year seat on the UN Security Council.

Restorative justice A step in the right direction

RESTORATIVE JUSTICE represents a step forward in dealing with crime. The existing justice system does not treat the unforeseen factors that lead someone to commit a crime and this is where restorative justice can make a difference.
