MONTREAL, Canada:
THE BIRDS at the famous 'Parrot Jungle' in Miami will 'talk' for years about the Byron Lee and the Dragonaires invasion of their sanctuary.
On Monday night, two of the Caribbean Hotel Industry Conference (CHIC) 2006 guests were energised by the electricity of soca and reggae from the repertoire of the king and his band.
Celebrating his 50th anniversary and birthday simultaneously, the group arrived in Miami to one of the most obedient audiences many who were also in the celebratory mood for the NBA Championship win of the Miami Heat and the empowerment of the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA) conference.
Immediate past president of CHA, Berthia Parle, danced as if she was 'living the dream', while incumbent Peter Odle showed true Barbadian spirit.
The region's most noted Minister of Tourism, Noel Lynch, boasted of his wife, while the British Virgin Island's Lynette Harrigan and St. Maarten journalist Marvin Hokstam discovered what they had in common.
Margaret and Romney Penn were glued to the dance floor, commencing with the first note and ending with the last.
Horace Peterkin for the first time in his life was scared to be photographed, and Camille Needham, Peter Komposch and Donnie Dawson formed a line.
Lest we forget, CHIC 2006 was a blast!
