Runway report: 10 summer must-haves
published: Monday | July 3, 2006

Tesi Johnson, Gleaner Writer

Left: Nothing says summer like the radiant colours of the rainbow. Life seems brighter when you wear bright colours like these in this creation by The Cloth.   Center: Linen is a great material to wear in the summer heat. White linen especially reflects light rather than absorbs it, so you feel as cool in body as you do in spirit. This outfit is by Brown Sugar. Right: The summer dress is a key essential in any woman's wardrobe. It is easy to wear, can be dressed up for a fancy occasion or played down for casual wear, and is another great way to beat the heat.

Left: he outfit is by Brown Sugar.   Center: Pants that taper at the leg are all the rave for this summer. Leggings, skinny jeans and such are among summer's fashion must-haves. Try wearing a pair of leggings with your summer dress, or with an itty-bitty top like this Keneea Linton creation. Right: Wearing a belt that cinches the waist is a sure-fire way to send your outfit up a notch on the glam scale. This outfit is by Moncrieffe.   Right: Get in touch with your wild side by donning animal prints. WHEN JUNE 21 was recorded as the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, it was official - summer had begun!

Caribbean folks enjoy summer conditions for most of the year, but there's still something special about the traditional summer months. There are lots more parties for the socialites to patronise, and the fashion trends are fun, frivolous and less restricting. Equip yourself with all the summer fashion essentials, incorporate some of the season's hippest trends, and set some trends yourself this summer, all in an effort to have a great time for the next two or so months.
