When God moves
published: Monday | July 3, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IN GENESIS 6:5 we read that "God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth" ...then. He said, "I will destroy." In this case, the cup of iniquity was full before God acted.

Later God's timetable depended on the performance of the Amorites and so we read in Genesis 15:16 where in speaking to Abram, God said, "In the fourth generation they will come again; for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full!" In other words their wickedness had not reached its limits.

Here in Jamaica God has allowed and is allowing sin to reach its climax before he moves.

Following the 1962 declaration of Independence for Jamaica as a nation under God, sin reached its climax during the transition of leadership of the JLP and God moved - the PNP was victorious at the 1972 polls.

By 1976, the sins of the PNP which had started to multiply, reached a height when they declared the controversial State of Emergency - so that by 1980 there was a resounding victory at the polls for the JLP.

Under the JLP some three years later, sin began to multiply in the land. In 1983, when a snap election was called using an outdated voters' list, contrary to the promise made by the then Prime Minister to the Leader of Opposition, sin reached its climax. By 1989, God moved - the PNP had a resounding victory at the polls.

Since that time, under the PNP, wickedness has been spreading throughout the land; nearing its climax and God is about to intervene in the affairs of this nation.

Whenever the election is held, the JLP will be victorious at the polls. Jamaicans will then know that God moves.

I am, etc.,
