Government calls for audit on CARICOM nationals
published: Thursday | July 6, 2006

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (CMC):

St. Lucia has called for an audit of the movement of skills under the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Single Market and Economy (CSME).

That country's Prime Minister, Dr. Kenny Anthony, said his administration wants the Guyana-based CARICOM Secretariat to conduct the audit "to make sure that all the governments have introduced legislation that reflect what had been agreed upon and that there are procedures and processes in place that allow people to move freely".

Anthony told the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) that his government had received "complaints from time to time about other governments on these issues and so I think doing an audit would help clarify the situation".
