Sloppy work
published: Thursday | July 6, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

PEOPLE ATTACHED to the National Water Commission (NWC) have been coming to my community and exacting violence on us. For the past three weekends, the truck, van and crew have been coming to my street and pumping sewage into the gullies. Also, the crew had to dig to get the equipment to the sewer line and they have driven off and left a mound of asphalt sitting in the middle of a sidewalk drain. This blocks water from running freely and creates a small pool whenever it rains. Pedestrians have to step out into the road to get around it.

I don't know who has been supervising this project but something must be done. However good intentioned this work is supposed to be eventually, this kind of violence cannot be tolerated. The stench and flies that this activity has wrought is unbearable.

This is an appeal to the NWC to carry out its work in a professional manner and to leave the area without any ill effects on the residents at the end of the day.

I am, etc.,

MEDDO SWABY
