Landlords stymied by tenants

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I HAVE recently had the unfortunate and harrowing experience of trying to remove tenants from my property. They have been living rent-free for most of the year and obviously have no intention of moving, as they have many sob stories and found the prospect of being taken to court quite amusing.

Not only do they not pay rent, they do not pay utilities either, and I have been advised by the police that they cannot be disconnected because of health reasons. This is absolutely outrageous.

PARASITES

These people are parasites who believe that the world owes them a living and therefore they exploit landlords and utility companies, because they know that they are likely to receive sympathetic treatment in the judicial system. They behave as if they have all the rights in the world and landlords have none.

This madness has got to stop. The law needs to do more to protect property owners who often sacrifice to purchase these homes which they cannot recover from these illegal tenants.
