ELTHAM'S CAPTAIN, Kishan Shattock, and Jamaica College's Marc Robinson walked away with the two most prestigious awards at Wednesday's GraceKennedy Financial Services rural and urban schoolboy cricket competitions' presentation ceremony.
Shattock, who led Eltham to back-to-back Grace Shield titles, along with the urban JIIC knockout crown, left the GraceKennedy office on Harbour Street, downtown Kingston, with the Carlton Alexander Award for sportsmanship, leadership and discipline on and off the field.
Shattock also took the Grace Shield award for the top wicketkeeper while Jeffery Scott of Holmwood, with 21 dismissals, was the top Headley Cup wicketkeeper.
JC's Robinson, who had three CXC passes in fourth form and awaits another seven this year, received the Douglas Orane Award for academic excellence and performance.
However, the individual award, which brought the most thunderous applause from the gathering was that of Maud McLeod's Derron Campbell who collected a trophy for taking seven wickets for no runs in the Headley Cup.
MOST AWARDS
Ziggy Levy of Spaulding Cup and Headley Cup champions Holmwood and Shacoya Thomas of Grace Shield champions Eltham High took home the most awards.
Levy, who was surprisingly left out of Jamaica's Under-19 team, walked away with five awards. He won awards for scoring five centuries (128, 100, 127, 104, 105 and 102 - all not outs); most runs (728); best batting average (91.00) and top all-rounder (26 wickets at 18.69 and 728 runs).
Thomas, a member of the Jamaica Under-19 team, led the Grace Shield section. He walked away with the award for most runs (882 at 137.00), three centuries (163 not out, 115 not out and 101) and 108 in the JIIC knockout.
Eltham were voted the Most Disciplined Team. St. Catherine's Rasheed Outar was voted the Grace Shield Premier League top all-rounder while Keron Davis of Mona took the 'A' League award.
Oliver Walker of Jamaica College (JC) received the award for most runs, 692, in the Grace Shield A League.
Omealy Ford of Vere scored most runs (301) in the Grace Under-16 competition while Kino-Paul Sailman (376) took the urban award.
The award for most wickets in the Headley Cup went to Cleveland White of Titchfield (52 wickets) while Damion Burnards of Vere topped the rural Under-16 section with 30.
Robert Lewis of Holmwood and Oral Simpson of Eltham received $45,000 each for being the top rural and urban coaches, respectively. Simpson was named overall coach of the year.
