Da Vinci Code Movie
published: Saturday | July 8, 2006

By Fursan Zu'mot

After watching the movie, The Da Vinci Code, I realized why the Christians and Muslims leaders stopped showing this movie in Jordan, in the Middle East, The Holy Land. The movie has very dangerous teachings, because it has been built on the last supper painting which was painted in 1498, meaning after almost 1500 years from Jesus Christ. Leonardo Da Vinci, the Last Super painter 1452-1519, has painted beside Jesus Christ a woman. According to his imagination Mary the Magdalene was beside Jesus Christ at the last supper, because Jesus loved her. But Leonardo Da Vinci was born 1452 years after Jesus Christ, which means that he was not with Jesus to know if Mary the Magdalene was beside him or not. Therefore, we cannot take Leonardo Da Vinci imagination as a foundation to our faith.

The movie is a very high quality production and very good action, but for people who have weak foundations in Christianity, they will believe in the fiction of this movie. Hence, we have to watch this movie as a fiction movie nothing more. In Jordan and Egypt the Religious Leaders saw that it is a very dangerous movie, because there is an argument in the movie about the Son of God and the Son of Man and the movie is focusing on the Son of Man (The human nature of Jesus Christ). Therefore, it is supporting what Muslims believe about Jesus Christ, only as a prophet from God, and it is destroying what they believed, that Jesus did not marry at all. The Christians as well do not believe that Jesus was married. On the other hand while we observe the Muslims in the east how they respect their prophet Mohammed, we are upset for the disrespect shown to the Christians for our God and Saviour Jesus Christ.

The concept of love in the west may be a different concept from in the east. As a person who has come from an eastern culture I understand that love is not supposed to be a sexual relationship, and Jesus, as we know, loved John. Therefore love dose not mean sex in the Gospel, but humankind likes to think different "The Lord saw that the wickedness of humankind was great in the earth, and that very inclination of the thoughts of their hearts was only evil." (Gen 6:5). Hence, Jesus Christ did not have any sexual relationships with anyone, because he came for one purpose, the cross, not to live and to have a family, but to die and to have a body, the Church.

From the historical side, this movie has changed the historical facts and gone beyond what has been written in the Gospel. Finally, I am not against giving an opinion about anything. According to the human rights laws, everyone has a right to give an opinion about any thing and this is his/her right; I am not against freedom to give or to show your opinion. But I think if we would like to give an opinion about any religious case we should be considerate about people who have weak religious foundation.
