Jencare boss Jennifer Samuda applies bronzer to Nadeen Greaves.
IT IS like a tan in a bottle. Bronzers have been creating sheer and tone on faces all over the globe for the past decade.
Bronzers, which seem to be replacing foundation and concealers, are ideal for enhancing complexion or to accent or strengthen a tan. They also provide a smooth, even application on all skin types.
Realising the allure of bronzers, Jennifer Samuda of Jencare Skin Farm on Hope Road in St. Andrew, designed her own line of bronzers about four years ago.
"If you want to look natural, then bronzers are your choice," Mrs. Samuda told Flair.
However, last year she went back to the bronzing machine and created four new types.
These bronzers, she said, provide a warm, sunny glow by just gently sweeping the brush over the face.
"The colour has more shine as the main ingredient used, is minerals that has more shimmer and the bronzing comes out more," says Mrs. Samuda.
They have interesting names such as 'Brown Girl in the Ring' and 'Sunshine Delight'. The shades are suitable for day, evening or night. The four bronzers available now come in lipstick and eye shadow as well.
Still, with deft application, an ordinary facial bronzer can be used to create beauty on the cheeks and eyes. Simply tap the brush to remove the excess, and apply. For a touch of sun, apply over the cheekbones and at the top of nose blending outward. For an all-over glow, apply over your cheekbones, temples, top of the nose and chin, all blending outward.
"With a bronzer, all you need is a blush of colour using less or more onthe particular area you want to look brighter or darker."
Other products in the Jencare bronzers include bath soaps. For a day at the beach, bathe with the bronzing soap to give the entire body a sunny glow.
"Showing legs this summer? Bronzer is the way to get an even tone," says Mrs. Samuda. She notes that the soap bronzers should not cause allergies as they contain minerals.
"These bronzers are made with minerals, now micas. That's for sensitive skin no matter how sensitive your skin is, there will be no allergies."
Bronzers provide a natural tone as if no make-up is being worn. On a night out wearing a strapless top or a day out to the beach, a bronzer is your cosmetic for creating an even skin tone with glow all over your body.
"Bronzers give a more natural finish, with a fabulous and sophisticated look so you don't look caked-on or made-up," Mrs. Samuda said.
