CRAIG
WESTERN BUREAU:
INSURANCE BROKER Billy Craig plans to change the insurance industry with an all-inclusive policy, covering natural disasters including hurricane, earthquake, accidental damage and looting.
The plan, tagged the Apple Insurance Policy, was unveiled by chairman of the company, William Craig, in Montego Bay St. James, on Friday.
The Apple Insurance Policy is being introduced at a time when all-inclusive insurance packages are unusual for most insurance companies. Policies of this nature are packaged separately.
Mr. Craig said the new policy was developed in response to the concerns of his customers.
CONFUSION
"Our clients were complaining about the confusion of having to purchase several different policies and the pricing involved in these individual policies, so we went to an insurance company where we designed and structured this policy and they agreed to the terms that we requested," he told The Gleaner.
He said it is his intention to protect the business of local entrepreneurs, particularly retailers.
"If you have a fire and you lose all your stock it would be almost impossible to recover without insurance," he explained.
Accordingly, Apple was designed specifically to cover offices, restaurants, supermarkets, wholesales, gift and souvenir shops, clothing and shoe stores, beauty salons, in-bond retailers and a host of other businesses.
Founded in 1963, Billy Craig Insurance Brokers is the largest insurance brokerage in western Jamaica and has consistently ranked among the top six brokerage houses in Jamaica with offices in Kingston and Montego Bay.
