Jamaica in decline
published: Thursday | July 13, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I FEEL that the situation in Jamaica is and has been steadily declining for the past 20 years under both political parties. Jamaican society, meaning the influential classes, have no respect for the poor and dispossessed and pay lip service to them. The churches are complicit in this disgraceful action and use religion to pacify the masses and stop them from confronting the disgraceful actions of politicians and the business classes.

Jamaica is now ripe for wide scale civil disorder. While I hope that this does not occur, I am quite certain that it will. Just how long does this unholy trinity of the so-called business, religious and political classes feel that they can disrespect and disregard the voice of the poor?

I am, etc.,
