Dalley outraged at videotaped assault
published: Thursday | July 13, 2006

MINISTER OF Health Horace Dalley has added his voice to the growing list of persons condemning the videotaped sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl.

In a statement yesterday, Minister Dalley said that "There are not enough words to express the deep disappointment and outrage that I am experiencing at this time. The fact that this child's sanctity was allegedly violated by other children in the presence of an adult, a church leader, is appalling. This should never have happened."

FURTHER HUMILIATION

Minister Dalley chastised members of the public who continue to circulate and watch videotapes of the heinous crime and further humiliate the teenage victim and her family.

"I think it is thoughtless and insensitive of persons to be watching this tape," he said.

The Health Minister also said he was deeply alarmed at the response of the church body with which the deacon is affiliated.

"It is very unfortunate that there are Christian leaders who are misleading their flock and would have them believe that the laws of the church should take precedence over the laws of the land. This simply is not acceptable," said the minister.

Mr. Dalley commended the police on what he described as the swift and professional manner in which they have been conducting their investigations.
