THE HEAT of summer is on in full force and as the seasons change, so should make-up. The inspiration this summer is from the sun goddess, in other words, make-up should give us a look of radiance, from head to toe.
The shades this summer for make-up are:
Bronzes
Golds
Coppers
Neutrals
Sky blues
Emerald greens
Golden oranges.
These colours emulate the natural colours of summer.
FOUNDATION
Sheer foundations or those with bronzer is the number one to give your skin that radiant glow. For those blessed with flawless skin, tinted moisturisers will do the trick to give that dewy look. However, if you have not yet purchased your sheer or bronzer foundation, you can mix your regular foundation with a touch of bronzer or bronze eyeshadow to get the same effect. The key is light application as the high temperatures will melt your make-up.
CHEEKS
For cheeks, add an extra touch of bronzer to highlight and give your smile a glow. You can also try sheer earthy tones just to give a little lift. Peaches and copper tones will do best.
EYES
For eyes, the concept is to highlight and accentuate what you have. The list of colours above may be used, however, choose one that will complement what you are wearing. For liners, I recommend Colour Stay by Revlon; it will stand up to the heat test. You can also get adventurous with coloured eyeliners, mainly royal blues and emerald greens.
LIPS
Lips should be nude, with use of lightly-coloured gloss to give them that plush and plump look.
BODY GLOW
In addition to the face, the overall body should exude radiance. The idea is to have an all-over look of radiance, while having the same texture for face and body. There are bronzing lotions in a variety of shades available on the market. Use one that will complement your skin tone without giving you an over-done tanned look. With this in mind, subtle application is key - less is definitely more.
