PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC)
HARD-HITTING WEST Indies batsman Ricardo Powell is now confirmed to represent Trinidad and Tobago in the Stanford Twenty20 cricket tournament in Antigua after recovering from injury and a self-imposed break from the game.
The Jamaica-born Powell is expected to add some well-needed explosive power to the T&T batting line-up.
Powell, who has played two Tests and 109 One Day Internationals for the West Indies, migrated from Jamaica a few years ago. He now lives in Trinidad and Tobago and represents the twin-island republic in regional competition.
The T&T team played the first of two warm-up games against St. Lucia Saturday night at the Beausejour Stadium and although Powell only made 17, visiting T&T won by 64 runs.
T&T play their first Stanford 20/20 match on July 25 against the Cayman Islands.

WEST INDIES Test batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul has pulled out of the Guyana team for the ongoing Stanford Twenty20 cricket competition, a Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) official has revealed.
No reason was given for the experienced left-hander's withdrawal but the all-rounder Orin Forde is expected to replace him in the squad for the rich tournament in Antigua. Forde, a former National under-19 player, has been practising with the team.
West Indies vice-captain Ramnaresh Sarwan has been appointed Guyana captain and is expected to join the team today.
Guyana play Montserrat in their opening game on July 21.
