Woman accused of forcing child to perform oral sex
published: Thursday | July 20, 2006

A WOMAN shocked the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday when she appeared on charges of indecent assault and cruelty to a juvenile, after allegedly forcing a six-year-old boy to perform oral sex on her.

Diana 'Mary' Washington, 32, of a St. Andrew address, spent about two weeks in jail after the matter was reported by family members of the child.

Allegations are that, earlier this month, young boys were playing football close to Washington's house when two were called into the house by the accused. It is said that Washington called the boys into her bedroom, lay on her bed and removed her panties.

ANOTHER CHILD IN THE ROOM

No statement was received from one child, but the six-year-old told the police that another child was called into the room with him and had performed oral sex on the accused (from her instructions) before he was told to put his mouth on Washington's vagina.

In seeking sympathy from the court, however, Washington made claims that she was badly beaten by police while in custody.

Her brother, who acted as a witness on her behalf, said other children who were present at the house on the day in question denied the statement of the six-year-old boy.

Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey, who questioned the sanity of the woman, advised the accused's brother to save his words for the trial. She briefly stood the matter down though, after attorney-at-law Marcus Goffe agreed to represent the accused (who had not engaged the services of a lawyer).

Washington was later granted bail in the sum of $50,000 to return to court on August 8.
