PAUL CAMPBELL defeated the challenge of Easton McMorris to retain his position as first vice-president of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) at yesterday's Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.
Campbell scored an over-whelming 61-26 win over his Lucas' clubmate McMorris.
In the other position which was voted on, Whycliffe 'Dave' Cameron beat Hopeton Morrison 62-24 to retain his post as honorary treasurer.
NOMINATION WITHDRAWN
However, the surprise of the evening came when long-serving honorary secretary Diann Camp-bell's nomination was withdrawn, allowing Milton Henry to step that position.
Campbell, who has served the JCA since 1995, said her new role in the Ministry of Education would not allow her to continue in the position.
In a letter to the president, Jackie Hendriks, the board of directors, associates and affiliates, Campbell said: "I would like to thank all the members of the board, the association and the affiliates for their support in having made me part of history, for the tremendous support during my tenure and for the opportunities for professional and person development that you have provided me during these years.
President Hendriks; second vice-president Cleveland Keddoo; assistant secretary Ian Brown; assistant treasurer Hugh Perry were elected unopposed.
Roderick Gordon, Snr. Supt Dudley Bryan, Ephraim McLeod, Courtney Daley, Lyndel Wright and Radcliffe Daley are the directors from Surrey.
The other directors from Cornwall and Middlesex were not available at press time.
Hendriks welcomed his new executive, which will serve for another two years.
"The election of the executive has been a positive one, they have returned some very hard workers," he said.
And from now on, he said, "we also have new ideas to bring into force."
