THE EDITOR, Sir:
DURING THE recent series of power outages in the Corporate Area, I was able to see light; a glimmer of hope on Molynes Road as I watched some young men trying to assist the motorists to deal with the chaos that was created on the roads as there was no light in the vicinity.
At an intersection in the area where there was a desperate need for someone to direct the traffic in the absence of working traffic lights. I was unable to move, like many other drivers because, though the young men tried very hard to gain the co-operation of all the motorists, there were a number of lawless ones who didn't care a hoot about what the young men were trying to accomplish.
I felt ashamed for those who did not seize the opportunity to applaud the efforts of the young men who made a difference in the circumstances; not even the policeman who eventually brought some sanity to the scene.
We should identify good deeds and reward them positively nd so encourage sound values in our youth when they do good.
I am, etc.,
