How they got there
published: Saturday | July 22, 2006

Naggo Head's Carlos Barrett dribbles around the challenge of two Negril FC players during a Wray and Nephew National Premier League play-off game. Naggo Head won 1-0.

STARTING SLOWLY with a draw, Naggo Head had to put pressure on their three opponents to make their way into the Wray and Nephew National Premier League.

After a 1-1 tie with St. Georges, the team was in joint second place behind Negril F.C., who had beaten August Town.

August Town however, were not to be denied and they quickly jumped to three points after they beat Naggo Head 2-1 to put the St. Catherine team in danger of not qualifying.

After that it was a matter of chasing the leader as August Town were to go on to beat Negril in a return game and do the same against St. Georges.

What was a stroll in the park for August Town, proved supremely difficult for Naggo Head, who weren't able to secure a spot in the league until the play-offs' last day.

Playing against August Town in the penultimate round they drew 0-0 to give Negril F.C. a fine chance at the single remaining spot.

Negril were one point to the good and only needed a draw to move on, however, a single Naggo Head goal made the difference and the rest was history.

Naggo Head replaced Rivoli as the St. Catherine team that adds support to Portmore United's drive to make the parish a dominant force in football.
