The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) yesterday kicked off its islandwide tour of major towns in eastern Jamaica, as part of its election campaign.
The tour, lead by Opposition Leader Bruce Golding, began in Harbour View, East Kingston, and culminated with a mass meeting in Annotto Bay, St. Mary.
During the exercise Mr. Golding promised that, should he become the next Prime Minister, within 100 days he would announce a programme to create more jobs for Jamaican youth.
He also said funds would be allocated to each of the 60 constituencies regardless of party affiliation. While not giving details, Mr. Golding said the programme would empower highly skilled youth.
During the tours, Mr. Golding presented to Labourites consultant plant pathologist, Dr. Omer Thomas, as the candidate for eastern St. Thomas.
He said Dr. Thomas had the ability to be of excellent service to those constituents.
The JLP's islandwide tour of major towns is scheduled to culminate with a mass meeting in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, on Sunday.
