Jamaica earned three medals, one silver and two bronze on the track at the 20th Central American and Caribbean Games in Cartagena, Colombia last night. Ian Weakley earned a silver medal for the Jamaicans when he finished the 400-metres hurdles in a time of 49.74 seconds behind Panama's Bernard Kimani (49.44).

Jamaica's earned a second medal in the event as Bryan Steele was third in 50.12 seconds.

Melaine Walker also found her way onto the medal podium in the women's 400m hurdles event, after her slightly below par time of 55.97 seconds placed her behind athletes from the Cayman Islands and Trinidad and Tobago.

At press time last night, Jamaica were also banking on the performances of Wilbert Walker and Xavier Brown to improve their medal tally.

Brown had made his way into the semi-finals of the men's 200 metres event after posting a time of 21.26 to finish first in his heat.

In the meantime, Wilbert Walker was in sixth place finisher in the men's triple Jump final.

In the women's 200-metre event, where Marcia Woolery and Janice Daley were down to compete, Jamaica failed to advance past the first round.

At press time Jamaica were also waiting to see if Evon Allen (1:50.26) and Andre Drummond 1:52.65, who were fourth and fifth in their heats respectively, would make the final of the 800 metres event.

Last night, Nadia Alexander was also down to compete in the women's shot put event.
