Endorsing ineptitude
published: Sunday | July 30, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

When I first came to Jamaica, I wondered why there was so much corruption here. Now the answer is crystal clear.

The government, the leaders of this country, set the standard in corruption, and every year they raise the bar. Despite irrefutable evidence regarding the cement crisis against Minister Philip Paulwell in Parliament on Tuesday, July 25, 2006, every member in his party wholeheartedly endorsed his negligence and ineptitude.

In other words, they are showing that it is perfectly all right for someone to do wrong, be caught red-handed, turn around and say "it wasn't me, " then go on exercising power over people who have done nothing to deserve this kind of treatment.

As we all know, 'the blind cannot lead the blind', and a corrupt government cannot eliminate corruption. It is time to put a new government in place, with our extreme vigilance to make sure they never abuse their power and our trust.

I am, etc.,

PATRICIA FENNEL

Havendale,

Kingston 19
