No means no, even in marriage
published: Sunday | July 30, 2006

It is the belief of several men that a husband cannot rape his wife. Nevertheless, I believe that this is not so. A woman, whether married or not, has the right to say 'NO'.

It is her body, her mind, her mood. Yes, a wife has the obligation to sexually satisfy her husband, however, there might be times when she does not want to engage in sexual practices, due to circumstances, and for this I believe she has a right to say no. If this is done and the husband proceeds, it is considered rape!

Rape is a sexual encounter by force or coercion. Thus, a wife has the right to say no.

Men need to eliminate the idea that their wives should and must submit. It doesn't matter whether the husband wants to call it a different name or place, or whether they want to pepperlight or place other decorations over the reality.

If his wife says no, it should be respected, if not it is considered rape.
