Satisfying appetites for the latest consumer high-tech equipment

The sixth staging of Jamaica Consumer Electronic Super trade show (JCES) hosted by Digicel and the Gleaner Company will be held on Saturday, August 12-Sunday, August 13, Hilton Kingston's ballroom from 9:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. daily. It is the showplace for the what, where and why of the consumer technology industry.

As today's entertainment and information centres evolve the following technologies and products are a must-see at the expo - digital imaging, iPods, satellite radio, Xbox 360, HDTV, home networking, teleporting, wireless/mobile communication, DVD-audio and hand-held computing systems.

JCES 2006 once again will bring to the public over 35 of Jamaica's largest consumer companies which will display and sell products in one or more of the following categories at a reduced cost:

As the event is designed for the entire family; one of its main features for this year is two very timely seminars on two very topical and relevant issues -

Topic 1 - Saturday, August 12 starting at 11.45 a.m. 'Protecting Our Children in this the Technology Age' (Internet and media exposure, what is my responsibility). Panellists will include Mrs. Betty-Ann Blaine, convener, Hear the Children's Cry Committee, Mrs. Paula-Anne Porter-Jones, media personality and a representative from Symantec Anti Virus

Topic 2 - Sunday, August 13, 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Copyright - what does this mean. Panellists to include representatives from Microsoft, Palace Amusement and Jamaica Intellectual Property Office (JIPO).

Marketed as a family event, the trade show will offer something for everyone:

D.J. Mixing Competition hosted on Saturday August 12 - persons can register online to enter by going to www.jamaicatradeshows.com. The winner of this competition will receive among other prizes the multi dimensional Sony Ericsson w810 phone courtesy of Sony Ericsson. The competition will also showcase DJ mixing demonstrations by special guests from Green Synergy.

Performances from MiPhone Dancing Dynamic winners and runners-up Shandy Squad - Saturday and Vibes Ihata Sunday.

Watts New Xbox Competition - to be held Sunday August 14 - persons who wish to enter can either go to Watts New and register or go online to www.jamaicatradeshows.com.The winner of this competition will receive among other prizes an XBOX360 courtesy of Watts New.

The ever-popular karaoke competition will again be staged on Sunday evening.

The event will be hosted by two of your favourite hostesses - Denise Hunt, host of Digicel Rising Star, and Elva from Full House Fridays. To add further excitement to the packed schedule of activities will be Jamaica's newest singing sensation, Alaine.
