Top drivers ready for Dover
published: Sunday | August 6, 2006

Glenroy Sinclair, Staff Reporter

The 'big guns' are ready for tomorrow's Independence Day race meet at the Dover Raceway in St. Ann, where hundreds of motorsport fans are expected to turn out.

"The DHL Zoom Zoom RX7 Mazda is now ready and waiting on a wrecker to be taken to the track (Dover)," said Peter Rae, one of the "big guns" who will be in action. According to Rae, his service crew has corrected all the mechanical problems he had at the previous race meet. There are also reports that Peter 'Bull' Thompson's RX7 Mazda has been well prepared and awaiting to be transported to the track. The Jamaica Race Drivers Club (JRDC) has disclosed that at least 15 new entrants will be competing in the IP 45 Class. Among them is Joel Jackson, who recently completed a stint in the Formula BMW Series in the United States. Race Meet Director, Hilary Jardine, said the all day event is scheduled to begin at approximately 10:00 a.m., following the qualifying sessions. All eyes will be glued to the GTS Class, which will feature the 'big guns', such as Thompson, Rae, David Summerbell Jnr. and Doug Gore. "My cars are well prepared and I am ready for them (rivals)," said a smiling Summerbell, who will be driving his newly-acquired Evolution 7. In the meantime, Thompson said he will be coming 'all out' to enjoy the races and have fun.
