Fabulous presentations
published: Friday | August 11, 2006

The Editor, Sir:

I must commend the JCDC for the wonderful work they are doing and for the fabulous presentations over the past month leading up to and including Independence Day. I was privileged to attend the Best of Festival series and as always it was a delight to see all the talent on display. From all accounts, Mello-Go-Round and the Independence Day Street Jam in New Kingston did not disappoint. My only regret however, is that the festival fever does not reach every nook and cranny of this island.

I spent Independence Day in St. Thomas and all the way to St. Thomas and back to Portmore, there was no activity to indicate that we were celebrating a special day in the life of this nation. I know the JCDC can't be everywhere, but maybe the media could help them to encourage parish organisations to stage cultural events in each major town so that everybody can get involved.

Keep up the good work JCDC!

I am, etc.,

KAREN HENRY
