The name Craig Montgomery has been mentioned a lot lately on As the World Turns, even though the character was written out months ago and sent off to prison for trying to kill Rosanna (then played by Cady McClain). Mentioning past characters on soaps is usually a sign that the person will resurface soon, and this time was no exception - only he won't be played by Hunt Block. Some speculated that the original Craig, Scott Bryce, was being lured back to the show, but it was only a rumour. Wally Kurth, who plays Ned Ashton on General Hospital, was also said to be in the running. In a situation that is similar to recasting Gloria Abbott on "The Young and the Restless" after Joan Van Ark left, a lot of big names were considered, but the show selected someone lesser known who simply nailed the audition and was right for the part. In Y&R's case, it was Judith Chapman. With ATWT, Jeffrey Meek is the new Craig Montgomery. Meek might not seem familiar, but you might recognize him as Rev. Thomas Dade on GH from back in 2002, or as one of the McCleary boys, Quinn McCleary, on Search for Tomorrow. Look for Meek to debut on ATWT sometime this fall.
In other casting news, former Sunset Beach actor Dax Griffin has earned a contract role on The Bold and the Beautiful. He will play Shane. Not much else is known, but eagle-eyed fans might recognise him from his brief appearance on the show recently. It is uncertain if Shane is this same person, so stay tuned to find out.
