A TREMENDOUS final round of par-72 from veteran Maggie Lyn saw Jamaica seal their only hardware from last week's Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships - the women's George Teale Trophy.
Going into the final round with a seven-stroke lead over arch-rivals Trinidad and Tobago at the Caymanas Golf and Country Club course in St. Catherine, Lyn's best round of the tournament made sure the host side, which also included Jodi Barrow and Tiffany Terrier, could not be caught.
WASN'T ALL PLAIN SAILING
It wasn't all plain sailing for Lyn over the four days of the tournament as she had to endure a horrific second round of 14-over 86, but she came good when it counted and finally ended with the lowest gross score among the women of 311 (75-86-78-72).
A happy and relieved Lyn praised her final day playing partners for her par-round.
"The players I played with had a nice and slow tempo and that helped me get into a groove and concentrate," Lyn said. "I felt very good and I knew that because they were such good players, I had to do well.
"Today the greens worked out well for me and I putted brilliantly. I just stayed in the moment and didn't try to think too far ahead," she said.
Lyn also lauded her teammates.
"I am very happy for the team because we played together. We weren't trying to beat each other we were just trying to get birdies for the team and it paid off."
