The parish of St. Catherine took home a massive haul of prizes at the 54th annual staging of the Denbigh Agricultural and Indus-trial Show, which ended recently in May Pen, Clarendon.
The parish won the coveted Rudolph Burke Trophy for best parish pavilion as well as eight of 10 sectional prizes. St. James took second place in this competition, while Westmoreland placed third. St. Catherine also won second place in the competition for overall Champion Parish.
Camp happy
Acting parish manager for St. Catherine, Cardia Duhaney, was overwhelmed by the achievement given that preparations for Den-bigh began late. She added that her camp was extremely happy as St. Catherine last won the parish pavilion prize about 10 years ago.
The parish's display featured ornamental fishing and a variety of food produced in the parish.
The sectional prizes won by the parish were in the areas of agribusiness, home economics, education, marketing, outstanding feature, cooperative community development, adaptable tech-nology and initiative in using resources.
