JAMAICA: US appoints new consul

WESTERN BUREAU:

The United States Embassy has appointed a new consular officer, Lisa Gallimore-Hyde, for western Jamaica following the retirement of Robert Garth in April.

The U.S. Consular Agency for Western Jamaica, is located on the first floor of the St. James Shopping Plaza on Gloucester Avenue in Montego Bay and provides services to United States citizens residing in, or visiting western parishes.

Mrs. Hyde was born in Jamaica and completed her secondary education locally at Ardenne High School and West Indies College.

After migrating to the United States, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Thomas University in Florida and a Master of Science degree from Nova Southeastern University.

Commendation Medal

Mrs. Hyde served eight years with the U.S. Army Reserve and received a commendation medal for her service.

She was on staff in the Florida State Attorney's Office as a Child Enforcement Officer before returning to reside in Jamaica in 1992. Upon her return to the island, she joined the staff of Mt. Alvernia High School, in Montego Bay, where she served for 14 years as a teacher.

Mrs. Hyde is a member of the Jamaica Red Cross Society and serves as Youth Chairperson for the parish of St. James. Mrs. Hyde is married with three children.
