CARLTON BAUGH Jr. smashed a whirlwind century of 114 runs yesterday to help defending champions Melbourne into the semi-final of the Capital and Credit Limited Overs cricket championship.
Baugh, who struck 10 fours and eight sixes in his 52-ball innings, shared in a 201 fourth wicket partnership with Andre McCarthy (86) in helping Melbourne to a seven-wicket win over Westmoreland at Melbourne Oval.
Westmoreland batted first and were helped to 222 all out by André Andrews, who scored 114, which included seven fours and five sixes. When Melbourne batted, Ewan Andrews (3-33) struck three quick blows, reducing the home team to 21-3 before Baugh and McCarthy decided to take matters into their own hands. Both belted balls around the ground, getting the required runs in just 24.2 overs.
The defending champions will now face St. Elizabeth in one of next weekend's semi-finals, while two-day champions, St. Catherine, will play Kensington in the other.
