Asafa Powell, no stranger to this column, ran an unprecedented 9.77 seconds in the 100 metres for the third time for a world record hat-trick in Zurich, Switzerland, on Friday.
The phenomenal Jamaican sprinter originally set the world record in June 2005 in Athens, Greece, equalled it a year later in England, then stopped the clock at the magical number again two days ago.
After the race, Powell reiterated that he can go faster and told the press they will "just have to wait and see".
Powell's MVP clubmate Kaliese Spencer won Jamaica's first gold medal at the 11th IAAF World Junior Track and Field Championships in Beijing, China, on Wednesday.
Spencer secured Jamaica's first 400m hurdles gold at this level in a national junior record time of 55.11 seconds.
The 19-year-old University of Technology student erased her own mark of 55.61, which was achieved on June 11 in Gateshead, England, the same meet at which Powell ran the world record a second time.
In racing to the world's leading junior mark, Spencer, who had pre-race favourite American Nicole Leach covered from the first 150m, kept her form for a decisive win.
"I just got out and ran my first 200m hard and I just came out victorious, so I am very happy," she said after the race.
Both outstanding performances have earned Powell and Spencer The Gleaner's Performers of the Week.
