Stone Crusher Gang members remanded second time around
published: Tuesday | August 22, 2006

WESTERN BUREAU:

Alleged Stone Crusher Gang members, 22-year-old Adrian 'Banga' Lofters, 20-year-old Lenford 'Bungie' Brown and Andrew 'Blacka Shine' Cox, 18, of Hendon, Norwood, who were implicated in the July 4 killing of five persons in Norwood, St. James, were remanded for a second time on Friday when the case was mentioned in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court.

The trio, which first appeared before the court on July 21, was without lawyers. Trevor Ho-Lyn now appears for Brown, while Lofters is represented by Mr. George Thomas. Cox, however, has not retained a lawyer.

RM Carolyn Tai has ordered that a legal aid assessment be done so that Cox can be legally represented when the trio returns to court on September 20.

File incomplete

The court also learned that the file is still incomplete, as there are post- mortem reports for the victims and the forensic report is still outstanding.

The three, who turned themselves in to the police and who were positively pointed out in an identification parade, are jointly charged with five counts of murder.

Police said gunmen shot and killed 43-year-old Patrick Ander-son, 29-year-old Natalie Ferguson, 57-year-old Linda Malcolm, her common-law husband, 62-year-old Michael Mgtbontaque and their 20-year-old son, Michael Jr., during separate attacks in Norwood on July 4. The attackers also torched the victims' houses.
