Moses 'Beenie Man' Davis said a lot of ladies called and cried when reality struck that he was really marrying Michelle 'D'Angel' Downer.
But, "I am not here to please all females; I am here to please this one woman, every man get tired of same old, same old."
The self-proclaimed 'Dancehall King' almost sounded like a spiritual healer when he spoke of how he chose not to have a bachelor party, because he had been to enough strip joints in his lifetime and that none could have an effect on him anymore.
At no time during his big day at the fabulous Craighton Estate did he forget that he was a man of the dancehall. And he repeated, "Mi a musician, it nuh mek no sense mi come up yah and a gwaan like something else. Mi spend whole heap a money pon dis and mi wife dress."
And even as he professed his love to his new bride, the speech that many will remember for years to come was given by a woman named Peggy Lawrence.
Miss Peggy's job was to raise a toast to the bride and she did just that. Holding a glass of red wine, her toast ran, "And now we are going to drink the blood and taste the flesh of Jesus Christ. I hope the couple will be like 'Hisaac han Rebecca'. And as God said to Moses, 'take your feet off di shoes'."
She went on to speak of 'marriageship' and how 'flastically' the couple was put together.
For many who attended, 'Miss Peggy are the one'.
Moses and Michelle Davis, now officially 'M&M' by virtue of their fans, hosted a wedding reception which was filled with mirth and electricity.
Ace DJ Shaggy sent a message that read, "I recommend that you drop 'nuff gal' from your repertoire and use 'it wasn't me', while Sean Paul told him to 'Get busy' as he was expecting eternity and the Beenie baby, Marco Dean Anthony Davis.
Beenie Man shouldn't have much problem taking Shaggy's advice as he did say that the first woman he fell in love with, Carlene, the Dancehall Queen, is now in his past. "Today, August 22nd, is my birthday and my wedding day. The day I say to Mrs. Davis, 'Angel, I love you, like I have never loved before. Angel, I love you like no woman I have loved before."
Silver spoons with heart-shaped chocolates were the wedding souvenirs.
The entry to the altar where Mr. and Mrs. Moses Davis made their wedding vows. Florist extraordinaire, Ann Marie Wyss, captured the couples' wish for a silver and white theme, and interspersed large and small angels as well as masses of fresh carnations, lilies and rosebuds on top of lace inlaid columns, and on the sides of chairs.
Members of Gumption Band (in white suits) were among the large group of onlookers who watched the proceedings from a vantage point on the hill.
