Rain postpones Go-Kart festival
published: Sunday | August 27, 2006

DUE TO inclement weather, the organisers of the Red Bull Smokin Street Go-Kart extravaganza have postponed the event until next Sunday, September 3.

The organisers made the assurance that the paratroopers and the American teenage sensation, Timmy Mergenbier, along with stunt bike riders will still be available for the event.

Tight security

On Friday, the National Works Agency (NWA) paved the Knutsford Boulevard turf where the event was scheduled to take place.

Senior Superintendent Rosie McDonald-Barker told The Gleaner last week that the police would have been out in numbers to provide top-level security for the karting event.

According to Mitch Watson, one of the Red Bull managers, all arrangements will be in place come next Sunday.
