Dobson out of National Workers Union (NWU) race
published: Wednesday | August 30, 2006

Dobson

President of the National Workers Union (NWU), Clive Dobson, will not be contesting the presidential race at the union's congress next month.

This is after a meeting held with his two contenders for the post failed to resolve the internal leadership dispute.

According to a reliable source close to the union, Dobson had decided to withdraw from the race following yesterday's meeting with Lloyd Goodleigh, general secretary of the NWU, and Dobson's contenders, vice-presidents Danny Roberts and Vincent Morrison.

Both Mr. Roberts and Mr. Morrison had indicated that they would be running for the presidential post despite Dobson also indicating he would like to return as president.
