Emergency meeting for Stanford board
published: Monday | September 4, 2006

Stanford

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC)

The board of directors of the Stanford Twenty/20 Cricket will hold an emergency meeting in Antigua today, the board's public relations arm said yesterday.

In a statement to the media it was outlined that the 13 legends of West Indies cricket along with Stanford 20/20 financier Allen Stanford will hold discussions at the Bowler Club of the Sticky Wicket Restaurant at the Stanford Cricket Ground, Coolidge, Antigua.

Media conference

At the end of the meeting, a special media conference is planned for 1:00 p.m. at which time details of the future of the US$28 million-investment made by Stanford will be outlined.

The emergency meeting was called to discuss plans after the US$5 million match between Stanford Super Stars and South Africa was called off after a mix-up in dates between Stanford 20/20 and the West Indies Cricket Board.

The match was slated for November 10, but clashed with the West Indies' Test and limited-overs tour of Pakistan, which is set to bowl off on November 10.
