THE EDITOR, Sir:
Please highlight and educate the public of the truth and what is happening behind these prison walls. I am an inmate responding to the topic of issuing condoms in the prisons.
Firstly, I am not surprised with the call for condoms to be issued in the prisons. The living conditions involve an approximately 8x5 foot cell shared by six to eight inmates. (Check Tower Street for an example). However, this inhumane and degrading living does not induce us to practise homosexuality.
The debate makes it seem as though everyone is involved. But of more than 4,000 inmates fewer than ten per cent are involved and they HAVE to be separated by themselves or else they will be killed within arm's reach.
Stop trying to disgrace us. It is hurting our family for they are hearing remarks. If you believe we are locked away and we are thirsty, then they should pass the law to allow conjugal visits and stop promoting homosexuality psychologically. Moreover, the Government should release inmates who have served ten or more years to reduce the degrading and inhumane living conditions. Homosexuality is against the principle of God and the law of our land.
