DAVIA MUIR: Stick to the books
published: Tuesday | September 5, 2006

Davia Muir

If Davia Muir had only one opportunity to advise her generation this is all she would say:

"Keep focused and just stick to your books and even though you can have a social life do not make it override your education, because your education is key."

And she knows. Balancing her books with her social life earned this paediatrician hopeful eight grade ones this summer in her CSEC exams.

She tackles her work head on and sticks to her own plan when others fail.

"There is sometimes something that the teacher doesn't cover that well and I see it in the syllabus and I could manage it myself by using the text books," this young achiever said of how she gets by.

Davia has been driven by the truism that education will take her through the world, and both her parents and friends supported her philosophy.

So when she got her grades, they were more than proud.

"They (her friends) were saying they can't believe they have such a bright friend and stuff like that," she said.

But the road will not end here for Davia. She will continue to work hard to reach her ultimate prize.

"I have to be focused and try the best to be the best that I can be so I can reach somewhere because it is very competitive to get into med school," she said.
